AUSTRALIA SUMMIT SUCCESS!
USAF 7 Summit Teams Reaches Sixth Peak

On Oct 4th 2011, six active duty US Air Force members meet in the mountain village of Thredbo, New South Wales, to work together and reach the summit of the Australian continent's highest peak, Mt. Kosciuszko (7,310ft).  At 1300 local time, the US Air Force flag was raised atop the summit of Australia.  Along with the USAF flag, the American Flag and the Australian Air Force and national flag were flown.

It was a great moment of international unity on the snow covered summit of Kosciuszko.  The USAF and American flags departed the summit in style, flown by skiers as they descended the mountain under the bright spring sun.  Read more via the link to the left and don't forget the Facebook page and blog.

ANTARCTIC SUCCESS!
7 Summits Team Members Reach Summit of Antarctica: 9 Dec 2010!

The US Air Force* and United States flags proudly flew atop Antarctica's highest peak on Dec 9th!  The team reported the beautiful continent of ice, snow, and rock to be the closest landscape to another planet they will ever see.  The climb went very well, with a 5 day period of bad weather the only thing that didn't go as planned!  Read the trip report via the 'Vinson' link to the right for a detailed summary.  As far as the team can tell, this is the first ascent of Mt. Vinson by a team of military climbers.

With the success of our Antarctic climb, there are just two peaks left in the USAF 7 Summits Challenge: Australia's "Kosi" and Asia's Mt. Everest.  Australia will be next, as a way to get as many people involved in a climb as possible and generate more energy for Mt. Everest.  Dates TBD.  With a lot of help, Everest should be May 2012.  Establish contact with the USAF 7 Summits Challenge via e-mail if you are interested in Australia.  Additionally,  show your support by joining our Facebook Group Page.

If you have any ideas, suggestions, pledges, or support for us, please contact us at: usaf7summits@gmail.com.

Thanks again for the great support we've received in the past. This is a dream that is on pace to becoming reality: the US Air Force* the first military represented atop the 7 Summits and the first team of American military members to attempt Mt. Everest!!
